Privacy Policy

Your files stay on your Mac.

iCompress was designed with local processing as a core principle. All video compression operations are performed locally on your machine. We do not collect, transmit or store any of your media files.

1. Local Processing Principle

iCompress uses FFmpeg to execute all compression tasks locally on your Mac. This is a core principle of our product design—we never upload your video files to any server or cloud service.

Processing Mechanism

  • All video encoding, decoding and compression operations are completed on your local device
  • The app does not contain any network upload functionality modules
  • Files do not leave your device during processing
  • We cannot access, view or obtain any of your original materials

Source File Protection

By default, iCompress does not modify your original video files. Compressed files use timestamped names and are saved to your selected output directory to avoid overwriting existing results.

2. Data Collection & Use

iCompress strictly limits data collection scope. We follow the "minimum necessary" principle and only collect the smallest amount of data essential for providing services.

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • Your videos, audio or image files
  • File names, file paths or file metadata
  • Any personally identifiable information
  • Browsing history, search records or other behavioral data

Data That May Be Processed by Apple or the System

  • Crash and performance diagnostics: If you allow diagnostic sharing in macOS or App Store settings, Apple may provide aggregated crash and performance data to developers for stability analysis.
  • Purchase status: Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple App Store. The app uses StoreKit to load subscription products and transaction status to unlock Pro features.
  • Local task records: Task status, compression settings and output preferences are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.

3. File Storage & Transfer

Local Storage

During operation, iCompress only interacts with your file system in the following cases:

  • Reading video files you select for compression
  • Writing compressed files to your specified output directory
  • Storing a small amount of user preferences (compression quality, output directory, etc.) in local configuration

Temporary Files

During compression, FFmpeg may create temporary intermediate files. These files only exist in memory or temporary directories and are immediately cleared after processing. We do not retain any intermediate products.

Output File Ownership

After compression is complete, you own the copyright to the output files. You can perform any operations on output files, including copying, moving, deleting or further editing. iCompress does not claim any rights to output files.

4. Third-party Services

iCompress does not integrate any third-party analytics, tracking or advertising services. We do not embed any third-party SDKs or data collection modules in the app.

FFmpeg Components

iCompress uses FFmpeg open-source components for video processing. FFmpeg runs completely on your local device and does not communicate with any external servers. To learn more about FFmpeg, visit ffmpeg.org.

Network Requests

Except for the following cases, iCompress does not initiate any network requests:

  • Loading subscription products, purchasing, restoring purchases and syncing subscription status through Apple StoreKit

The above network requests only transmit necessary verification information and do not contain any media files or personal information.

5. Cookies & Tracking

iCompress does not use Cookies and does not store any tracking data on your device.

The official website (icompress.aijiarj.com) may use necessary technical cookies to ensure normal website operation. These cookies are only used for basic functions and are not used for user behavior tracking or advertising purposes.

6. Subscription & Purchase

App Store Purchase

iCompress Pro subscriptions are purchased and refunded through Apple App Store. Subscription fees are collected by Apple and we do not directly handle your payment information.

Subscription Verification

When verifying subscription status, the app sends an anonymous token to Apple's verification server to confirm subscription validity. We do not store your Apple ID or payment-related information.

Subscription Management

You can manage your iCompress subscription in the following ways:

  • Open App Store on your Mac, click the account icon in the upper right corner
  • Select "Account Settings", find "Subscriptions" option
  • Locate iCompress and manage subscription status

iCompress is not responsible for subscription cancellation or refund applications—these transactions are governed by Apple's policies.

7. User Rights

As an iCompress user, you have the following rights:

Data Control Rights

  • Right to Access: You can view settings, task status and output files stored locally by the app
  • Right to Delete: You can uninstall the app at any time. All locally stored preferences will be cleared upon uninstallation
  • Right to Refuse: You can manage whether diagnostics and usage data are shared with developers in Apple system settings

Permission Management

iCompress requires the following system permissions, all of which can be revoked by you at any time in System Settings:

  • File Access Permission: Used to read video files and save compression results
  • Notification Permission (optional): Used to send system notifications when tasks are complete

Data Export

We do not store any user data available for export. All data generated by your use of iCompress (preferences, task history, etc.) exists only on your local device.

8. Children's Privacy

iCompress is not designed for children under 13. We do not intentionally collect, use or store any personal information of minors.

If a parent or guardian discovers that a minor has used iCompress and data exchange has occurred as a result, please contact us immediately (see the end of this document). We will assist in deleting relevant data records.

We encourage parents to understand their children's digital product usage and to be responsible for minors' app usage behavior.

9. Data Security

Although iCompress does not collect or store your media files, we take overall data security seriously.

Local Data Protection

  • Your preferences are stored in macOS standard configuration directories and protected by system permissions
  • The app does not transmit any file data to external servers
  • Compression process is completed in memory without leaving traces

Security Recommendations

To ensure your data security, we recommend:
